History

Herman Recard Warlond was born 1857 in the Moreton Bay District of Brisbane (Queensland, Australia) to Herman Reford Johann Gottlieb Piek (c1826-1906) aka "John Warlond" and Charlotte nee Spridgeons (c1839-1911).

In 1878, a Model Locomotive Engine was made by Herman R. Warlond, who was apprenticed to the Phoenix Foundry. He built the model with his fellow apprentices Francis Henry Davis (1858-1940), Louis A. Ballhausen, Samuel John Morgan (1856-1939) and James Campbell Brown.

The steam engine was donated to the Ballarat School of Mines Museum, and is now part of the Ballarat Historical Society Collection, which is held at the Gold Museum.

Herman Recard Warlond died 9 December 1948 in Victoria (Australia).
