History

Ivo Bibby enlisted for service during World War One at the age of 19. Ivo Bibby was aboard the troopship Carpentaria when it the set sail from Sydney on 7 November 1918 bound for Europe via the Panama Canal. Just off Auckland the news of the Armistice came through by wireless. [1]

Legacy

The World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.

A tree was planted for Ivo Ignatius Bibby (69001) in the Ballarat Orphanage's Arthur Kenny Avenue of Honour.[2]

Notes

Two returned soldiers, Messrs Bibby and Lawless, who have been going through a course at the woodworking class at the School of Mines, have obtained positions at the School of Mines, have obtained positions at the Buninyong Box Factory at the full wage. This speaks well both for the work of the soldier students and for the class.[3]
