History
James Rowan (no 4887) was a public servant (clerk) before enlisting in the Australian Imperial Army 7th Battalion then the 59th Battalion, on the 30th August 1915, at 21 years old. He embarked to join the BEF Kinfauns Castle, Alexandria He was wounded in action sometime before the 4th August 1916 and returned to Australia via Southhampton 27th October 1916, he arrived in Melbourne on the 2nd December 1916. He was awarded the following medals: The Star, The British War Medal, and the Victory Medal. [1]
