James Watkins was a publican in Ballarat, <1863>.

History

In 1863, Watkins was the publican of the Foundry Hotel in Armstrong Street South. In June 1863 he was in court:

At the District Police Court, on Thursday, Watkins, the late landlord of the Foundry Hotel, Armstrong street, was brought before the Bench charged with fraudulent insolvency, and was remanded for a week. Mr Dunne has been retained for the prosecution, and some startling disclosures are likely to be made when the case comes on for hearing, relative to the manner in which the insolvent, and now prisoner, disposed of his estate.[1]
