John A. Wunhym

As a 17 year old John Alfred Wunhym (or Wun Hym) was of Chinese ancestry. He attempted to enlist for service during World War One on 08 September 1914. He did enlist on 04 January 1916 aged 19, and was given the regimental number 4965. A private of the 58th battalion he was killed in action on 26 March 1917 about 300 yards from Lagnicourt. He is buried at Lagnicourt Cemetery.
Legacy
The World War One service of John Wunhym is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
