Obituary

DEATH OF A BALLARAT PIONEER.
BALLARAT, Wednesday.
Mr. John Gribble, aged 65, a well-known sharebroker and member of the Ballarat Stock Exchange, died to-day from general debility. Deceased was one of the early pioneers of Ballarat, and worked on the various diggings in the district. In 1853 he was engaged in mining at a claim on the site now occupied by Reid's Coffee Palace, in Lydiard-street, near the Western railway station. Mr. Gribble, who was a native of Cornwall, leaves a widow and grown up family.[1]
