John Wightman Gray

History

John Wightman Gray was from England. He arrived in Australia on 12 October 1852. He arrived in the Ballarat district on 10 September 1853, where he dug for gold at New Chum Gully. He was elected Mayor of the City of Ballarat in 1877 and became a member of the Ballarat Water Commission in 1880.[1]

Wightman lived in Neil Street Ballarat.

John Whiteman born in Doddington. Eng. 25th Sept 1823 died Ballarat 2nd Nov 1884. His beloved children Christina Elizabeth born 17th May 1858 died 26th Feb 1862. Isa Christina born 17th Dec 1866 died 17th Jan 1867. Ralph Gray Father of above born 25th Dec 1797 died 7th June 1882.[2]
