NEWS AND NOTES.
The Geelong Advertiser says one of the largest bells (if not the largest) ever made in the colony, was cast on Wednesday at Munro’s Foundry for the Ballarat Fire Brigade. It weighs a ton, and we may imagine the distance its sound will reach by comparison with the Geelong Brigade bell, which is said to weigh about five hundred weight. The bell will be temporarily hung on Saturday, when its true tone will be ascertained.[1]
