Background
Clay from the Nerrina Clay Pits was an easily accessed and free source of clay which afforded amateur and professional potters a wonderfully plastic body that fired to the richest of terracotta colour. The Nerrina clay pits were obliterated by the Ballarat by-pass ring road.
