History

PROSPEROUS BUTTER CO.
'The Newstead Butter Factory is rapidly regaining its flourishing condition preceding the drought. Last fortnight’s payments to suppliers of cream amounted to £1350, the price paid for butter fat being £1/4 ½ per lb. which is very satisfactory to dairymen at this time of the year. The suppliers now number 420, and cream is received from as far afield as Murrayville, Ouyen, and Boort.' [2]
