Origin of the name

The pastoral run Nintingbool was also known as ‘Nentingbull’. The name is derived from the indigenous word ‘Nunkunbool’ which means ‘morning star’.[1]

History

Captain John James Barlow Smythe had the lease of the Nintingbool run in 1846.[2]

Today Nintingbool is a small Victorian Rural Location within the local government area of Golden Plains, covering an area of 1.898 square kilometres.
