Operators involved in Non-Metallic Mineral Mining and Quarrying have construction material mining as the primary activity of their operations.

History

A sample of flagging has been sent to the Western Council from Mr C. Tippett, contractor, from a quarry which he states he has discovered, distant between 20 and 27 miles from Ballarat. The Council sometime ago offered a reward for the discovery of a quarry near Ballarat; and, acting on that intimation, Mr Tippett set about instituting a search. The sample seems of fair quality, but it will yet require to be tested before any decided opinion can be formed respecting its durability, &c.[1]
