Norman Soutter

History

Norman William Soutter, (no 3919), was a miner before he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force, 14th Battalion at the age of 21 years, on the 27th July 1915. He left for active service abroad on the 24th November 1915, he was stationed in Eygpy and then France, he was wounded in action in France on 9th August 1916, admitted to hospital with wound to the base of his right thumb. He returned to Australia per Barbambah on the 8th April 1917 and was medically discharged 16th July 1917. He was awarded the following medals: The Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
