History

Evidently thrown overboard by Ballarat members of the contingent which left per the Mooltan in the middle of the present month, a bottle containing a message addressed to "The Ballarat Courier" was on 23rd inst. picked up on the South Australian beach. Mr A. S. McBain. of Murraup, Kingston (S.A.), writes:--"On Sunday morning 23rd May I picked up a square lolly bottle on the beach at Beachport, and it contained the enclosed message, which I am forwarding as requested." The message is headed "Mooltan 18/5/15," and is a follows:-"Finder kindly forward this to 'Ballarat Courier,' Victoria, Australia. The Ballarat boys are now on their way to the front with the A.A.M.C.- Stanley Lugg, 10 Loch Avenue, Ballarat; Leslie Carr, 14 Loch avenue, Ballarat; Cecil Jeffery, 314 Drummond Street North; Edwin Kewley, 3 Fincham street, Ballarat East: Ernest Dark, Bridge street, Ballarat East; Norman Timmings, Peel Street, Ballarat East; Percy James, Skipton Street, Ballarat; and Jack Hooley, Skipton street, Ballarat.
