Background

History

R. Graham and Sons Boots and Shoes were established in 1853.[1]


In 1915 the boot factory hosted meetings to recruit investors to the War Loans fund. The Ballarat Courier reported on one such meeting...

‘RECRUITING MEETINGS .. CONTINUED SUCCESS .. Successful recruiting meetings have been held this week at Graham’s boot factory, where a gathering of over 60 men were addressed by the Rev. Sale-Harrison and Mr Moyle, at Tunbridge’s speeches were delivered by Messrs Con Burrow and Frank Besemeres, and at the Gas Company’s works by the Rev John Walker and Mr Con Burrow...’ [2]


In 1938 they advertised to be The oldest shoe builders in Victoria and The Graham Moccasin is the authentic shoe for golf - a shoe within a shoe.[1]

Site

In 1938 the boot factory was located at 208-210 Dana Street.

The tannery was at Buninyong.
