Redan Quarries

History

The quarries at Redan were open in 1855 to supply stone for kerb and channeling in Ballarat East.

Uses of Redan Bluestone

1861 - railway stone

1871 - decorative stone work for St. Mary's Catholic Church, Geelong

1873 - St Alipius', Ballarat East

1876 - Bishop's Palace outer walls, Sturt Street, Ballarat.

1886 - stone obelisk for the Eureka Memorial
