History
Richard Francis Kincade was born in Buninyong and enlisted for service during World War One in Ballarat on 17 May 1916, at the age of 18 (SN 2413). At that time was was a single pottery moulder. He joined the 39th Battalion and sailed from Australia in October on board the Port Lincoln. After training in England, he was posted to France, joining the 8th Battalion in June 1917. He was killed in action near Polygon Wood on 20 September 1917, and has no known grave.[1]
Legacy
The World War One service of Richard Kincade is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
