Soldier Appreciates Honor. — Among the first 500 from Ballarat to go to the front was Robert Murray, and a tree his honor of this soldier was planted on the Burrumbeet road by the Mayoress. of the City (Mrs A. Bell). The young man was told in a letter sent to him by his sister of what had been done, and the mayoress by the last mail received a letter (from him, thanking her tor having planted the tree in his honor, and ^expressing the hope that he would some day in the near future return to Ballarat and see the tree for himself.[1]
