Lieutenant Robert L. Tremain was a member of the 23 Battalion B Company. He was reported missing at Moquet Farm on 26 August 1916. His mother was Mrs A. Tremain of 111 Skipton Street.
On 13 January 1918 the flags on the City and Town Halls were flown at half-mast for six Ballarat soldiers confirmed that week. Four were from the 23rd Battalion – Eric T. Brind (killed 28 July 1916), Robt. L. Tremain (killed 26 August 1916), Charlie Ladner (killed 20 March 1917) and Tom Jones.[1]
Legacy
The World War One service of Robert Tremain is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
