Roy Turton
History
Roy Turton Service number 252, was born in Maryborough, Victoria, he was a carpenter before enlisting in the 12th F.A. Brigade, as a gunner, on the 8th April, 1915. He was made a Corporal on 12th December 1917 and temporary Sargent on the 1st June 1917 [1]
He embarked from Australia 3rd June 1915, arrived at Lemnos 21st July 1915, he served in France and was wounded in action in Belgium 25th July 1917, rejoined his unit on the 27th September 1917. Returned to Australia 17th June 1918. He was awarded the Victory Medal, 1914-1915 Star and the British War Medal. He was discharged, medically unfit, 16th August 1918. [2]
