Rupert S. Barrett

History

Lieutenant Rupert Barrett joined the 8th Battalion during World War One, along with his brother-in-law, Captain Frank J. Dale. He was killed in action on 25 April 1915.[1]

Frank J. Dale wrote of Rupert's death:

I am informed by the two men that had the luck to get out of the row, that Lieutenant Barrett was on the 25th April, 1915, further out in front than any other officer, obeyed orders and died a soldier's death.[2]

Legacy

World War One service recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour.
