DIVORCE
ILES V. ILES
In the Supreme Court on Thurs-day last, before His Honor Justice a'Beckett, Sarah Illes, of Kidd's Gully, Daylesford, proceeded against George Iles for a divorce, on the ground of desertion.
Mr E. Reynolds, instructed by Mr R. W. Shellard, appeared for the petitioner. There was no appearance of the respondent.
Mr Shellard gave evidence of service of the necessary papers on respondent's mother, and produced an order made by Mr Justice Hood granting substituted service.
The petitioner proved that she had been deserted for upwards of 16 years, and that she had kept her son over that period.
Mrs Dwan and Master Percy Iles gave corroborative evidence.
The order nisi was granted.[1]

ELUSIVE ILES.
Sarah Iles, 45, of Kidd's Gully, Daylesford, sought divorce from George Iles, 46 on the ground of desertion.
The parties were married on Mar 17, 1898, and lived at Richmond for a time. Then petitioner returned to her mother at Daylesford, respondent agreeing to send money for her support. This, however, he did not do, and she had had to work for her living and the support of her only child ever since 1900. Meantime, the respondent had disappeared since about 1904, and he could not be traced.
A decree nisi was granted.[2]
