T. Claude Finlayson

History

Thomas Claude Finlayson was born in Ballarat, the brother of Arthur W. Finlayson.[1] He attended Ballarat College.[2]

Private (6264) Thomas Finlayson enlisted during World War One from Ballarat becoming a member of the 8th Battalion. He was 18 years one month when enlisted in April 1916. Claude Finlayson was wounded on 04 October 1917 and died of wounds on 05 October 1917[3] during the Battle of Broodseinde, Belgium.[4]

Legacy

Finlayson's World War One service is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour, and the Neil Street Methodist Church World War One Memorial.
