Thomas D. Boyce
History
Thomas David Boyce was the son of Mrs E. Boyce of 64 Havelock Street, Ballarat East. Prior to his World War One enlistment he was teaching at Hamilton State School. [1]
Thomas Boyce was a member of the 6th G.S.R. during World War One, enlisting on 28 September 1917.[2] While in England he was allotted to the 6th Battalion, and on 02 February 1919 joined this unit. He returned to Australia on the transport Persic in August. [3]
Legacy
The World War One service of Thomas Boyce is recognised on the Ballarat Avenue of Honour, with tree number 3522 planted by Lucas & Co. employee Miss N. Oates, in his Honour on 09 June 1919. [4]
A tree was planted for Eric David Boyce (140) in the Ballarat Orphanage's Arthur Kenny Avenue of Honour.[5]
