Thomas Hastie

History

Thomas Hastie was a Presbyterian minister. He arrived at Buninyong in 1847 at the request of the Learmonth and Scott families becoming the first clergyman in the district.[1] Hastie was the founder of the first inland boarding School.[2]

Legacy

Hastie's School was opened in 1848 by Mr Bedwell, with 10 pound per year being charged for board and education.[3]
