Background
The Thornton Richards Camera House is the oldest camera store in the country, opening the doors in 1872 on the Goldfields. Started by George Richards and Phil Thornton the camera house was a great success. The current owners are the Lewis family. The company has continued to evolve from primarily a studio through to cameras and processing and a commercial lab in 1970s. [1]
