Tourello Railway Station

Tourello had a railway station on the Ballarat to Maryborough railway line. The railway line was opened in 1874.[1] In March 1887 a Telegraph Office was established at the station.[2] Tourello Railway Station was closed in 1956.[3]

From the newspapers, May 1882:

Railway Collision. Yesterday afternoon a serious railway collision occurred at Tourello, on the Maryborough line. The Maryborough train, which had arrived at that station, was shunting to allow the train from Ballarat to pass, when the latter, disregarding the signal, came in towards the station and struck the shunting train, which had commenced to reverse. The shock was severe, and three or four passengers were seriously injured, and a few more considerably bruised. The buffers of the engine were smashed.[4]
