Previously the location of the Western Foundry, the Tubal Cain foundry was found at Urquhart Street, Ballarat. Having retired from the firm of Robinson, Thomas & Co., Jacob Thomas became the manager of the Tubal Cain Foundry in October or November of 1864. (The Star, 4 Nov 1864)


During the 1890s it concentrated on producing pipes for the mining industry. (Bate, 1978)
