Background

Valentine Crofton Purdue was born at Ballarat in 1882, the son of T.W. Purdue. Val was educated at Pleasant Street State School and University College.[1]

Saddler Val Purdue was situated at 9 Lydiard Street in 1921. The Company specially catered for hunters and jockeys. Purdue was one of two founders of the Ballarat Trotting Club.[2]
