W. Hamer was a carver, gilder and picture-frame maker whose premises were located on Sturt Street, Ballarat.[1] He also kept a stock of pictures and mouldings.

According to information pasted onto the back on an artwork framed by W. Hamer:- Admitted to be the Cheapest House in the Trade. W. Hamer carried stock of Alhambra, Walnut, maple and rosewood mouldings.
