Etymology
John Wallace ran a hotel and store. He bought a large paddock, and filled it with four roomed houses, or shacks, and one toilet for the use of two tennants. Tennants had to deal with John Wallace's store.[1]
History
Wallace is a quick detour from the Western Freeway on the outskirts of Ballarat.[2]
Most widely remembered for the Wallace Butter Factory, the township has a number of new reasons to visit. The historic Wallace Hotel has undergone a major retro style renovation which has seen it return as a destination hotel in its own right.[3]
