William Bickham Rodier was from England. He arrived in Australia on the Northumberland in November 1852. He soon after was digging for gold at Golden Poibt, Ballarat. He was the first Chairman of the Ballarat East Council from 1 June 1857.[1] Rodier left Ballarat in 1871 to live in Melbourne.
