Legacy

William John Slattery was born at Green Hill. He attended Yendon State School. He enlisted for service during World War One.[1]


Obituary

PRIVATE W. J. SLATTERY.
Mrs N. Burns, of 38 Hopetoun street, has been advised that her only son, Pte William John Slattery, has been killed in action in France on the 16th April, 1917. He was at one time employed at the Ballarat Woollen Mills, and later at Port Pirie Smelting Works, South Aus-tralia. Pte Slattery was of a bright and cheery disposition, and was liked and re-spected by all who knew him. He joined the 20th Reinforcements of the 8th Battalion on the 7th September, 1916. Pte Slattery was within three days of his 21st birthday.[2]
