- BALLARAT AND DISTRICT MEN - WARRANT OFFICER ALEC. WILSON. Mr P. C. Thornton, of Eden Studio, has received news of the death of his nephew. War-Officer Alec Wilson, of the 4th Light Horse. he was killed in action at Gaza last month. The deceased soldier was the eldest son of Mr and Mr. R. A. Wilson, of Traralgon, Gippsland. He left for the Front as a private in October, 1914; and look part in many big engagements. Although only in his 25th year, he was a splendid type of young Australian, being 6 feet 2 inches in height and strongly built. Profound sympathy is felt for his relatives, as, his genial and manly disposition made him very popular. Mr Thornton also has two married brothers and three other nephews at the Front, one of whom has been slightly gassed in France. The rest are still going strong.[3]
